Esther Pinder holds an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Iron Mill College in Exeter and a first class honours degree in Psychosocial Studies from Goldsmiths College, University of London.
She works with people facing anxiety, depression, low self-worth and questions of identity, and with those coping with personal change, loss, abuse or long-term grief. Esther believes that connecting with the different parts of ourselves reveals strengths and resources that can feel lost over time, and that embracing the many aspects of who we are helps people value and care for themselves more.
Esther has found that overthinking is often frustrating and unproductive, so she draws on a range of techniques to help break that cycle. She uses images and metaphors to describe feelings or experiences, sometimes introduces theories or models to clarify what is happening, offers practical strategies to ease anxiety such as breathing exercises and sensory grounding, and gently explores the background and context that may have shaped patterns of thought or behaviour.
As therapy progresses she and the client may notice unhelpful or harmful patterns that shift as understanding and self-acceptance deepen. Esther will not tell a person what to do; she sees the individual as the expert on themselves and supports them to discover their own answers.
In private practice she provides weekly 50 minute video sessions scheduled in advance. Clients may also share reflections or preparation in writing via the messaging service; Esther will read each message but responds at set times only, so messaging is not suitable for on-the-spot or crisis support.
She is a female therapist and includes LGBT and gay issues among her areas of work, and she brings eight years of professional experience to her practice in the United Kingdom.
