Donna Altepeter earned a Master of Social Work from Saint Louis University in 1983 with a concentration in community mental health and has maintained a clinical practice since that time.
She practices with a client-centered orientation and draws on skills from cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy to address anxiety, depression, bereavement, life transitions, and other concerns.
Donna brings extensive personal and professional experience working with people across the lifespan and holds a belief in each person’s capacity for change. She values a collaborative approach to learning and growth, viewing therapy as a partnership in discovery and wellness.
In addition to clinical work, Donna has more than 20 years of teaching experience in the University of Wisconsin Social Work program. She is a licensed clinical social worker in Wisconsin and welcomes the opportunity to work alongside clients in their process of change.
Many people ask whether remote counseling can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and managing life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most individuals.
A major benefit is flexibility - clients can choose the format that fits their routines and comfort, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility often makes it easier to keep appointments and maintain continuity of care.
Therapists offering online services are licensed professionals, and if you decide you would prefer a different match, you can switch therapists at any time. Online therapy can be a practical option for many people seeking support for everyday mental health challenges.
