Denise Bunner

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Hello, my name is Denise. I have been a Counselor/Therapist for over 30 years.

Through my years of experience, I have found that a client centered approach is often the most effective. Each client’s story is unique and I want to have the opportunity to hear their story before going forward with a specific style of therapy. I listen with compassion and then review with the client the key points of their experience. Sometimes I ask difficult questions with the intention of helping the client to look at themselves from a different perspective. Counseling can be hard work, and so I want the client to feel that they are working toward the best outcome possible. Sometimes that will take a couple of sessions, sometimes it can take much longer. I will offer suggestions regarding the duration of therapy, but ultimately that decision is made by the client.

All of us have heard the phrase, “these are unprecedented times.” Yes, we all have been introduced to extraordinary change in the past couple of years. As a clinician, I am always searching for new ways of helping myself, my family and my community to work with the changes we are experiencing. Change is difficult for many people, but with help, I feel that each of us is capable of making whatever change is necessary to create a better tomorrow. Over the past 5 years, I have been exploring alternative ways of helping people cope with the issues that have led to anxiety, depression, sadness and grief. After reading Bessel Van Der Kolk’s book “The Body Keeps The Score,” I recognized that the human psyche needs to learn how to release the pain that is stored in the body. I have recently completed the Eden Energy Medicine 4 year program. Based on the amazing information I learned through EEM, I will be sharing ways to release the pain stored in our body by sharing simple techniques that help to ground and relax the body. I often refer the members I am working with to one of Donna Eden’s books that detail many of the techniques that I have been sharing with people.

I encourage you to look for Donna’s book, “Energy Medicine: Balancing Your Body’s Energies for Optimal Health, Joy, and Vitality.” Then contact me for questions and guidance on how to integrate these techniques into your life. I do believe that each of us can live with optimal health, joy, and vitality.

About

Denise Bunner is a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania with 27 years of clinical experience. She practices with a client-centered approach, inviting each person to share their unique story before choosing a therapeutic direction.

She listens with compassion and then reviews the key elements of a person’s experience alongside them. At times she asks challenging questions designed to help clients view themselves and their situations from a different perspective. Denise acknowledges that therapy can require effort and aims to support people as they work toward the best possible outcome.

While she provides recommendations about how long therapy might continue, the ultimate decision about duration is left to the client. Denise combines practical guidance with an emphasis on collaboration so clients feel they are moving toward meaningful change.

In response to recent broad changes in daily life, Denise has spent time seeking new strategies to help herself, her family, and her community adapt. Over the past five years she has explored alternative methods for addressing anxiety, depression, sadness, and grief. After reading Bessel van der Kolk’s book The Body Keeps the Score, she recognized the importance of addressing pain that can be stored in the body.

Denise completed the Eden Energy Medicine four-year program and now shares simple grounding and relaxation techniques drawn from that training. She often refers people to Donna Eden’s work for more detail and encourages those interested to consult Energy Medicine: Balancing Your Body’s Energies for Optimal Health, Joy, and Vitality and then contact her for guidance on integrating the practices into daily life.

She holds Pennsylvania licensure as a professional counselor, credential PC007638, and works with individuals on a range of concerns including stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, grief, anger management, depression, addictions, relationship and family conflicts, sleep difficulties, parenting challenges, self-esteem, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people ask whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.

One major benefit is flexibility – clients can choose the format that fits their needs and comfort level, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This convenience makes it easier to fit regular sessions into a busy schedule.

Therapists offering online services are licensed professionals, and clients are free to switch providers if they seek a different fit. For many people, remote therapy provides an accessible and effective path to addressing everyday mental health challenges.
