Deia Lawrence is a licensed professional counselor practicing in Wisconsin with 18 years of clinical experience. She works with clients from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, offering support for stress, anxiety, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, depression, relationship concerns, grief, parenting challenges, career difficulties, and other life adjustments.
Her practice includes experience supporting survivors of sexual and physical trauma, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ community. She has helped clients address issues such as questions around sexual identity, feelings of marginalization, social identity concerns, PTSD, and sleep difficulties, and has also worked with those facing parenting struggles, intimacy-related issues, anger management, compassion fatigue, and self-esteem challenges.
Deia favors a holistic approach that attends to mind, body, and spirit, and she uses an integrative counseling style that draws on person-centered principles, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, and the stages of change model. She aims to provide compassionate, empathetic, and respectful care while empowering clients to pursue their best possible lives.
As the parent of a child with special needs, Deia brings personal insight to families dealing with similar challenges. She serves on the board of a nonprofit organization that supports families of children with special needs, many of whom are socioeconomically disadvantaged and Latino. In her free time she enjoys binge watching Jeopardy!, playing with her cat, and hosting gatherings for friends and family.
Deia holds a Wisconsin license to practice as a professional counselor (WI LPC 5467-125) and is committed to collaborating with clients to find practical, meaningful paths forward.
Many people wonder whether remote counseling can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or coping with life changes, online therapy has been found to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
A major benefit of online counseling is flexibility - clients can choose the format that best fits their routine and comfort level, whether that is video sessions, phone calls, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability often makes it easier to keep up with appointments and integrate care into a busy life.
Services are provided by licensed professionals, and clients are free to switch therapists if they seek a different match. Online therapy can be a practical option for addressing everyday mental health needs while maintaining a professional therapeutic relationship.
