Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello and welcome to my profile page! A bit about me: A native New Yorker, I graduated from City College (CCNY) with a BA in Psychology. I then attended YU (Wurzweiler School of Social Work), acquiring my MSW and becoming licensed as an LCSW. Essentially, I view myself as a Life Coach, a motivator who recognizes
that we are all unique individuals, but paradoxically share many common thoughts and feelings at different times. We’ve all struggled with anxiety, uncertainty and self-doubt- yet we have also experienced feeling confident, grounded and secure. Our backgrounds and early childhood experiences, our genetic predispositions all serve to shape our personalities and the essence of our being. To that end, as a clinician, I strive to assist my clients in examining their beliefs and thoughts to gain insight into their potentially self-destructive behavior- or whatever they feel is getting in the way of their success.
Together, we will explore why you have sought treatment now- and what you are looking to achieve or gain. What do you identify as the biggest challenge or issue? What have you tried so far and why hasn’t it worked, long-term? Often it is this: Complacency vs Burning Desire. How do you keep the momentum going? The power of ignited vision. Designing a dream & getting specific. Having a daily schedule. What are you going to get excited about today? What concerns you that could trip you up?
I have helped many clients develop high performance habits, starting with sharpening their self-awareness and being intentional. I invite you to join me in this exciting adventure of self-discovery. In the immortal words of Anthony Robbins, when would Now be a good time?
Looking forward to working with you!

Deborah Alter is a Connecticut-based therapist who brings 20 years of clinical experience and a background in psychology to her practice. A native New Yorker, she earned a BA in Psychology from City College of New York and completed her Master of Social Work at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University. She is a licensed clinical social worker in Connecticut.
She approaches her work like a life coach and motivator, recognizing that each person is unique while also appreciating the common thoughts and feelings many people share at different times. Deborah helps clients examine how their backgrounds, early experiences, and predispositions shape their beliefs and behaviors, and she supports them in gaining insight into patterns that may be holding them back.
In initial sessions she explores why a person is seeking help now and what they hope to accomplish. She asks practical questions about the client’s biggest challenge, what has been tried previously, and why those efforts have not produced lasting change. Deborah focuses on sustaining momentum – moving from complacency to a burning desire for change – and on creating a clear, actionable vision for growth.
Her work emphasizes designing tangible plans, establishing daily routines, and identifying what will spark motivation on a given day as well as obstacles that could interfere. Deborah has guided many people in building high-performance habits by increasing self-awareness and cultivating intentional choices.
She invites prospective clients to join her on a focused journey of self-discovery and action. In the spirit of Anthony Robbins, she often asks the question, “When would now be a good time?” Deborah looks forward to working with individuals who are ready to make meaningful change.
Many people ask whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions for most people.
One major benefit is flexibility – clients can choose the format that fits their life, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This versatility makes it easier to maintain regular sessions and integrate therapy into a busy schedule.
All participating clinicians are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch therapists if they need a different fit. For many, online therapy provides a practical, accessible way to work toward emotional well-being while keeping treatment consistent with everyday responsibilities.
