Debbie Hayes is a counselor licensed in Illinois with more than 10 years of combined experience working as a caseworker and as a counselor. She holds a graduate degree in counseling (MAC), is licensed in Illinois as a clinical professional counselor (IL LCPC 180.010923), and is recognized as a qualified mental health professional (QMHP).
She has supported people facing a wide range of concerns, including stress and anxiety, relationship issues and family conflicts, grief and depression, addictions, LGBT-related matters, trauma and abuse, eating disorders, parenting challenges, anger management, self-esteem struggles, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, as well as obsessive-compulsive symptoms, ADHD, and schizophrenia.
Her training included a strong emphasis on multicultural counseling, and she continues to pursue additional trainings to stay current with research and best practices so she can offer the best possible support.
Debbie’s counseling style is warm and interactive, grounded in respect, sensitivity, and compassion rather than judgment. Her work draws on a blend of client-centered, strengths-based, existential, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and psychodynamic approaches, and she tailors conversations and treatment plans to each person’s unique needs.
She is also comfortable incorporating Christian-based counseling when requested; as a Christian herself, she finds that faith-informed work can be a meaningful option for some clients and will integrate that approach when it fits the client’s preferences.
Seeking help takes courage, and Debbie offers support and empowerment for those ready to take steps toward a more fulfilling life. She looks forward to working with clients as they move forward one step at a time toward positive change.
