David Vaccaro is an Illinois-based therapist with more than 10 years of clinical experience working with people across the lifespan, from adolescents to older adults. He approaches care with a focus on practical strategies and compassion, helping clients navigate issues such as stress, anxiety, addictions, relationship concerns, trauma and abuse, depression, family conflict, grief, eating and sleeping disorders, parenting challenges, anger management, self-esteem, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, and ADHD.
He is a licensed clinical social worker practicing in Illinois and draws on a range of evidence-based approaches to meet each person’s needs. His training includes client-centered therapy, trauma-focused therapies such as TF-CBT, mindfulness-based therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, crisis counseling, and interventions for brain injury. In addition to mental health treatment, he provides substance use support with approaches like mindfulness-based sobriety and harm reduction counseling.
His academic background includes an undergraduate degree in psychology from Southern Illinois University and a graduate degree in mental health social work. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife and their cat Molly, running, and traveling to new places. He recognizes the courage it takes to seek counseling and welcomes inquiries from people ready to begin the therapeutic process.
