Reaching out for help can feel difficult when life becomes overwhelming. Colette Spaulding welcomes that step and aims to support and encourage people as they work toward greater satisfaction, fulfillment, and peace of mind.
She begins from a different question - not “What is wrong with you?” but “What has happened to you?” Colette strives to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where clients can share their personal stories. She collaborates with each person to identify patterns, strengths, and coping skills that build self-awareness, improve relationships, and promote healing and growth.
Colette works with individuals facing anxiety, depression, the effects of past or current trauma or abuse, grief, and major life transitions such as the loss of a loved one, relationship changes, career shifts, or health concerns. She also addresses relationship difficulties and other challenges that interfere with daily functioning. Her approach combines compassion and flexibility with a willingness to use humor when appropriate to acknowledge both pain and the possibility of joy.
With 15 years of experience in the mental health field, Colette is trained in evidence-based therapies including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She has worked with survivors of abuse, domestic violence, and trauma, and with people managing mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, depression, co-occurring conditions, and anger-related issues. Colette treats each person as a whole, partnering with clients to select interventions that match their specific needs.
Colette is a Licensed Master Social Worker in Michigan. She combines skill, experience, and a genuine desire to help individuals move toward positive change.
Many people wonder whether remote therapy truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most people.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can choose the format that fits their schedules and comfort level, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This convenience can make it easier to maintain regular care while balancing work, family, and other commitments.
Therapists who provide online services are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch therapists if they want a different fit. For many, virtual therapy offers an accessible, evidence-informed way to address everyday mental health concerns.
