Cindy Cothran recognizes that beginning therapy can feel challenging and works to make those first steps more approachable. She believes therapy can serve as an emotional refuge and consistently communicates that each person’s best interests come first.
Through understanding and gentle humor, she aims to build connection while addressing the concerns that brought someone to seek help. She supports people coping with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life changes, trauma, and other difficult circumstances.
With 18 years of clinical experience, Cindy has developed a flexible set of therapeutic skills that she adapts to each person’s goals. Her manner is sincere and wholehearted, grounded in a belief in the goodness of people and in treating everyone with respect.
She favors evidence-informed approaches and has training in a variety of models and techniques. Cindy describes her orientation as attachment-based and eclectic, drawing from mindfulness, solution-focused methods, cognitive behavioral approaches, Hakomi, somatic work, and EMDR.
Cindy is licensed to practice as a professional clinical counselor in California and as a licensed professional counselor in Tennessee. She looks forward to supporting individuals as they take steps toward living the life they want.
