Christine “Chrissy” Bruso

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Hello! My name is Chrissy Bruso, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who loves people, the beach, the mountains, spending time outdoors, working out, healthy food, a good cup of cold brew coffee, being a wife and mom, reading and finding ways to help others in any way I can. I have had a variety of careers, including horse farm manager and riding instructor, legal secretary, stay-at-home mom, helping families adopt children and counseling individuals with autism and related challenges as well as their families. I work from a strengths-based approach, and I love empowering my clients to learn more about themselves and grow into their full potential.

My counseling style is honest and kind. I will give you tools to help you connect with your most authentic self in order to live an abundant life. I am also a believer in healthy families, so I can help you navigate family relationships and challenges, understand yourself better and employ boundaries that strengthen your relationships with others and yourself. As a mother, I am very passionate about seeing moms live balanced and centered lives. All too often, moms place an inordinate amount of pressure on themselves to be everything to everyone. I love walking with moms to help them set healthy boundaries and put meaningful self care into place so that they can enjoy life and parenthood.

My approach includes person-centered, family systems, structural therapy and cognitive behavior therapy. I enjoy building strong relationships with my clients, and I believe that together is always better than alone. I check messages in here usually once per day, Monday through Friday, and I respond as soon as I can. I will respond to your message within the same day if it is received during my business hours (9a-5p EST) or the next business day if received after hours.

Thank you for reaching out, and I look forward to working together!

About

Christine “Chrissy” Bruso is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in Virginia with 14 years of experience. She brings a warm, people-focused approach shaped by a life that includes time outdoors, the beach and mountains, regular exercise, an interest in healthy food and a good cup of cold brew, and life as a wife and mom. Those personal interests inform her calm, practical presence in therapy.

Her professional background is varied: she has worked as a horse farm manager and riding instructor, served as a legal secretary, been a stay-at-home mom, supported families through adoption, and provided counseling to individuals with autism and to their families. This range of roles contributes to a broad perspective on family life, parenting, and individual challenges.

Chrissy uses a strengths-based stance and focuses on helping people discover more about themselves so they can grow toward their full potential. Her counseling style is honest and kind, and she offers practical tools to help clients connect with their most authentic selves and pursue a more abundant life. She particularly supports healthy family functioning, helping people navigate relationship challenges, understand themselves more clearly, and set boundaries that strengthen connections with others and with themselves.

As a mother, she is especially committed to supporting moms who often shoulder excessive pressure to be everything to everyone. She works collaboratively with mothers to establish realistic boundaries and meaningful self-care so they can find balance and enjoy parenting.

Her clinical methods draw from person-centered therapy, family systems and structural approaches, and cognitive behavioral techniques. Chrissy values building strong therapeutic relationships and believes working together produces better outcomes than going it alone.

She is licensed in Virginia as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, license number 0904009696, and maintains regular communication with clients. She typically checks messages once per day, Monday through Friday, and responds as promptly as possible. Messages received during business hours (9 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST) will be answered the same day; messages received after hours are replied to by the next business day.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people ask whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, research and practice show that remote therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person sessions. A major benefit is flexibility – clients can choose the mode of connection that fits their life, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to keep consistent care alongside work, family, or other commitments. Licensed professionals provide these services, and if a different therapeutic fit is needed, clients may change therapists at any time. For many people, the convenience and comparable outcomes of online therapy make it a practical and accessible option for addressing everyday mental health and relationship concerns.
