Dr. Cheryl Affrunti, who often goes by “Lee,” is a Florida-based clinical psychologist with 14 years of experience working with clients across the lifespan. She has supported people facing a wide array of challenges, including anxiety, depression, stressful life transitions, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD, schizoaffective disorder, learning disabilities, parenting difficulties, and relationship concerns.
Her work has also included helping veterans, first responders, and others affected by physical and emotional trauma. As a person-centered clinician, Dr. Affrunti emphasizes empathy, respect, dignity, and compassion, creating a judgment-free setting where clients can feel welcomed and heard.
Dr. Affrunti does not position herself as the holder of every answer; rather she trusts that clients hold vital insight and works to listen closely and help uncover meaningful directions forward. Her primary theoretical orientation is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), supplemented as needed with cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, mindfulness-based, and solution-oriented techniques tailored to each person’s needs and preferences.
She is licensed to practice as a psychologist in both Illinois and Florida (licenses IL LCP 071.008912 and FL Psychologist PY10454). Dr. Affrunti appreciates the courage it takes to seek support and offers her services as a guide who aims to enlighten, empower, and support clients as they pursue a more meaningful and fulfilling life. She looks forward to joining clients on that part of their journey.
Many people ask whether remote therapy makes a real difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or managing life transitions, studies and clinical experience indicate that online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is convenience and flexibility - clients can connect in the way that fits them best, whether by video, phone, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility often makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and to maintain continuity of care.
All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and you have the option to change therapists if you seek a different fit. Online therapy offers an accessible path to professional support for many everyday mental health needs.
