Charlie Bassett has 25 years of experience offering support, guidance and practical skills to people facing the difficulties and struggles that occur in life. He views counselling as a journey - walking alongside individuals to explore the sources of emotional pain and to help them rediscover the potential they may have lost sight of. Counselling, for him, is about renewing hope that healing is possible and that better days can lie ahead.
Each session is grounded in a person-centred approach that emphasises unconditional acceptance and deep empathy as the basis for a safe, open environment in which concerns can be explored. He also draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thinking and unproductive patterns of behaviour, and to learn practical techniques that support recovery and change. In addition, Schema Therapy is used to examine unhealthy core beliefs that can shape a person’s sense of self and influence their relationships.
His professional background includes work with children and teenagers who have behavioural and emotional difficulties, leading court-referred drug court and community sentencing programmes, and facilitating a programme for domestic violence perpetrators. He has served as a clinical director of a private counselling agency in Oklahoma.
More recently, Charlie worked in a hospital setting on an acute adolescent unit and most recently provided treatment to adults in an intensive outpatient day programme. These roles have informed his practical, skills-based approach to therapy.
Previously licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oklahoma - a qualification required to practise counselling under state oversight - he is now a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP) and is based in the United Kingdom.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person work for most people.
One major advantage is flexibility. Clients can connect in the way that suits them best - through video consultations, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging - which makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life.
Therapy delivered online is provided by licensed professionals, and you have the option to change therapists at any time if a different fit is needed. This approach combines clinical expertise with practical convenience to support progress toward your goals.
