Dr. Carol Jannik brings 35 years of clinical experience to her practice in Louisiana, offering a broad background across schools, community counseling agencies, mental health organizations, hospital departments, and long-running private practice work. She spent more than two decades in private practice and has provided counseling in hospital settings including obstetrics, pain management, grief and loss, emergency services, inpatient care, and outpatient programs such as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care.
Her clinical work has included collaboration with psychiatrists on medication management and outcome reporting; while she does not prescribe medications, she is familiar with both current and older psychotropic medications and with the interaction of medical and mental health conditions. In private practice she has supported children and adolescents in foster care and those living with family, addressing family transitions, adoption adjustments, attention and learning concerns including ADD/ADHD, as well as a range of adult presentations including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma-related conditions, addictions, and psychosis.
Dr. Jannik holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, is certified in trauma counseling and telehealth practice, and is licensed by the Louisiana professional counseling board. She is also designated to supervise counseling trainees and is committed to training competent future counselors. Guided by Christian beliefs while respecting clients of any faith, she personalizes treatment plans to each individual, most often using a cognitive-behavioral approach complemented by didactic techniques and rational-emotive methods. When a client’s needs fall outside her scope, she acknowledges that and offers referrals to other professionals.
She welcomes inquiries from those who feel her background and approach may be a fit for their needs and invites prospective clients to make contact to discuss how she might assist them.
Many people ask whether remote counseling can truly help with everyday mental health concerns. For common difficulties such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and life transitions, research and practice indicate that online therapy is comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is convenience - clients can connect in the format that fits their life and comfort level, whether that is a video session, a phone call, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility can make it easier to maintain consistent care and to fit sessions into busy schedules.
Therapists offering online services are licensed professionals, and if a person feels another clinician would be a better match, it is typically straightforward to switch. For many people facing common mental health and relationship challenges, online therapy is a practical, effective option to explore.
