Canse Karatas (MBACP) supports people to process, learn and evolve so they can experience meaningful, long-term changes in their mental health and healing.
She works with individuals facing stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, low self-esteem, depression, addictions, relationship and family difficulties, grief and intimacy-related issues, eating concerns, anger, career challenges, bipolar disorder and coping with life changes. As a female therapist she offers a therapeutic space informed by 12 years of practice across community mental health services, inpatient units and crisis intervention.
Her background includes a BA (Hons) in Psychology with a clinical focus and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. She is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and holds an Enhanced DBS and professional insurance. Canse’s current work is more holistic than strictly clinical and draws on an integrative approach influenced by humanistic, relational, psychodynamic and creative methods.
Earlier roles included work in a DBT-focused therapeutic community supporting women with personality disorder and dissociative identity disorder, and she has organised mental health awareness events for five years. She has contributed articles to the global magazine Brainz and continues to take part in international projects related to mental health and wellbeing.
Canse values depth, genuine empathy and cultural diversity - she is mixed race and speaks English as her first language. She also speaks from personal experience of working through traumatic events and remains committed to her own professional and personal development. She aims to make contact straightforward and typically responds to messages within 24 to 48 hours, checking a couple of times a day except on weekends.
