Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
PLEASE NOTE: I ONLY OFFER VIDEO SESSIONS AT THIS TIME
I am a dually licensed Clinician in Massachusetts. I hold both the LMHC and LADC1 licenses. For over 8 years my professional work focused primarily on helping clients with opioid addiction and being on MAT/MOUD. I have also worked with men incarcerated by the DOC. As a result, my therapy style varies from the standard method to counseling. While I am warm and interactive, I am assertive and direct.
While I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, I do not believe in coddling people. I don’t believe in stigmatizing labels. As a Clinician, I need to have a foundation set by the client so I can understand why you have come to seek help. I believe that your past is something that happened to you. I do not believe that your past defines who you are in the present or who you can be in the future. I will listen then paraphrase back what I have heard so we can both be sure that I understand you and your needs. My ability to help you relies on your ability to effectively communicate with me.
I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship and communication issues all secondary to their addiction(s). I also have helped people who have experienced trauma and abuse. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), humanistic, psychodynamic, solution-focused therapy and rational-emotive behavioral therapy (REBT). I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I assign homework which can be challenging for some clients.
I do not pretend to have expertise in all areas. I do not shy away from issues I have limited exposure to. That being said, if we attempt to work together and I am not skilled enough to help with your particular concern(s), we can discuss how to get you the help you need. Additionally, as therapy progresses and you change and grow, you may find that you need someone new who may be able to bring a different challenge or approach. That is a wonderful position to be in and again, we can discuss how to help you get your needs met. The therapeutic relationship takes time to build. Everyone needs to be patient with the process. Your issues didn’t happen overnight, nor will they be fixed overnight.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to offer support.
I look forward to working with you!

Angela Therrien only offers video sessions at this time.
She is a dually licensed clinician in Massachusetts, holding MA LMHC 10501 and an LADC1 credential. The LMHC designation indicates she is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and the LADC1 denotes a license in alcohol and drug counseling.
With 13 years of clinical experience, Angela spent over eight of those years focusing primarily on supporting people with opioid addiction and those receiving medication-assisted treatment (MAT/MOUD). Her background also includes work with men who were incarcerated by the Department of Correction, and that experience informs a therapeutic style that can differ from standard counseling approaches.
Her manner blends warmth and interaction with a direct, assertive approach. She treats people with respect, sensitivity, and compassion while avoiding coddling and stigmatizing labels. Angela expects clients to help establish a foundation for therapy so she can understand why they are seeking help.
She views the past as something that happened to a person rather than a fixed definition of who they are now or who they can become. Angela listens carefully and paraphrases what she has heard to ensure mutual understanding, and she emphasizes that her ability to help depends on clear communication from the client.
Angela has worked with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship and communication issues often secondary to addiction, and people who have experienced trauma and abuse. Her approach draws from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), humanistic and psychodynamic perspectives, solution-focused therapy, and rational-emotive behavioral therapy (REBT). She customizes dialogue and treatment plans to meet each client’s specific needs and assigns homework, which some clients find challenging.
She does not claim expertise in every area and is willing to address topics where her experience is limited. If a therapeutic need exceeds her skill set, she will discuss options to help the client find appropriate care. As clients change over time, transitioning to a different therapist who offers new challenges or approaches can be a positive step, and Angela will discuss how to facilitate that process.
Angela emphasizes that the therapeutic relationship requires time and patience – issues did not arise overnight and will not be resolved instantly. Seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage, and when a person is ready to take that step, Angela offers support. She looks forward to working with clients who are prepared to engage in change.
