Alisa Adams offers supportive, skill-focused therapy to help people manage the difficulties they are facing in their lives. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, dialectical behavior therapy techniques, motivational interviewing and creative methods developed during her Counseling and Art Therapy graduate program at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
With 20 years of clinical experience, she has worked with adults and families in individual and group formats across a wide range of settings, including day treatment and residential programs, a children’s hospital, corrections, community mental health, schools and home-based treatment. This breadth of experience informs her trauma-informed approach to care and her ability to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship and family conflicts, parenting challenges, domestic abuse, and the development of healthy coping skills.
She practices in a client-centered, strengths-based manner that aims to empower people to identify and build on their own resources and reach their potential. Alisa is a licensed professional counselor in Arizona, holding state licensure as an LPC, and she brings two decades of experience to her clinical work.
Many people wonder whether receiving therapy remotely can make a real difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life transitions, research and clinical experience indicate that online therapy can be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One of the primary benefits is flexibility - clients can choose the format that works best for them, whether that is video sessions, phone calls, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility often makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and to maintain continuity of care during life changes.
Licensed professionals provide online therapy, and clients have the option to change therapists if they feel a different fit would be more helpful. For many people managing everyday mental health concerns, online therapy is a practical, evidence-informed option worth considering.
