Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello and Welcome to BetterHelp! I am so glad you’ve taken this step to seek support for whatever you are going through. My name is Karla Burgess. I am a licensed independent mental health practitioner (LIMHP) in the great state of Nebraska. My 22 years of experience have taken place in either a hospital setting or in my private practice in a rural community. Being the only mental health practitioner in my area has given me experience with a wide range of mental health concerns such as anxiety/depression, behavioral concerns, parenting, relationship issues, and grief. My experience as a school counselor also makes me very comfortable working with kids, teens, and adults.
My treatment approach includes creating a strong relationship with the person that I work with. I’m trained in many theories of counseling but typically use ideas and techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and a Client-Centered approach. I believe in goal-directed work and make sure that the steps we are taking together are getting you closer to your counseling goals. Former and current clients describe me as kind, compassionate, caring, supportive, and empathetic. Creating a genuine connection with my clients is key to our success. I consider this opportunity to insert myself into your life a privilege and a huge responsibility. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you through whatever is hindering your growth and happiness.

For many common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and adjusting to life changes – online therapy can be an effective option that aligns with traditional in-person care.
One major benefit is flexibility. People can choose the format that fits their routine and comfort level, whether that is video sessions, phone calls, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety makes it simpler to maintain regular appointments and integrate support into a busy life.
Licensed professionals provide online therapy, and if someone decides they need a different fit, switching therapists is an available option. By offering multiple ways to connect and experienced clinicians, online therapy can be a practical, accessible route to addressing everyday mental health concerns.
