Myrna Pledger

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I was trained as a Community Counselor and as such, I am prepared to work with the issues and concerns that occur with individuals and families in the community, and everyone lives in a community. As you can imagine, there are not many individual situations I have not encountered. In the beginning of my career, I worked with children behaving violently or inappropriately in school environments primarily. I realized that the child experiencing mental health difficulties is a member of a family experiencing mental health difficulties as a system. I believe that most maladaptive behavior is learned from the family environment or may be from inherited tendencies. I also believe that many problems you see in both children and adults are the results of having to be in close proximity to someone who is a narcissist or someone who is exhibiting enough narcissistic traits to be dangerous to those with whom they associate.

I am licensed in the state of Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and have over 10 years of experience working as a Counselor. I specialize in treating survivors of narcissistic abuse both mental, spiritual and physical. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD, and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. I am faith-based as I myself believe it is important to recognize The Creator when attempting to offer help to His people.

My therapy style is truth-based, educationally focused and kind. I believe in treating anyone in the manner that I would want to be treated if I was in their situation. I don’t believe in labels, but I do believe in presenting examples of others who have overcome similar circumstances. I am primarily faith or Christian based. I am solutions focused and combine cognitive-behavioral and rational-emotive therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

About

Myrna Pledger trained as a Community Counselor and brings that broad community-focused perspective to her clinical work. She is prepared to address the concerns that arise for individuals and families, believing that most people live within and are affected by the systems around them.

Early in her career she worked primarily with children displaying violent or inappropriate behavior in school settings. That experience led her to view a child’s difficulties as part of a family system, and to understand that maladaptive behavior is often learned within the family environment or may reflect inherited tendencies.

Myrna also recognizes how harmful relationships with individuals who display narcissistic traits can be. She specializes in treating survivors of narcissistic abuse – including mental, spiritual, and physical forms of abuse – and has helped many people who experienced physical trauma or emotional mistreatment.

With 21 years of clinical experience, Myrna is licensed in Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, a credential that authorizes her to provide professional mental health services; her license number is 180.006251. Over the years she has worked with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Her practice is faith-based and primarily Christian, and she believes it is important to acknowledge The Creator when offering help to His people. Myrna describes her therapeutic style as truth-based, educationally focused, and kind. She aims to treat others as she would want to be treated, avoids relying on labels, and often shares examples of others who have overcome similar circumstances.

She is solutions-focused and integrates cognitive-behavioral and rational-emotive approaches, tailoring conversations and treatment plans to each person’s unique needs. Seeking change takes courage, and Myrna offers support and empowerment for those ready to take the first steps toward a more fulfilling and happier life. She looks forward to working with you.

Is Online Therapy the Right Fit for Your Needs?

Many people wonder whether therapy delivered online can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or managing life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person treatment.

A major benefit of remote therapy is its flexibility – you can connect in the way that suits you best, whether through video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That variety makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and to engage in the format that feels most comfortable.

All therapists offering online services are licensed professionals, and if you ever decide you need a different fit you may be able to switch providers. For many people, online therapy provides a practical, effective route to support for everyday emotional and relational concerns.
