Jennifer Hunt

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Nebraska and I have 6 years of experience. I understand that reaching out for support and asking for help can be intimidating, but I am here to listen without judgement so that we can work together to develop a plan to address your concerns and discover solutions. I enjoy helping people make changes in their lives and seeing them become successful.
I approach each individual with respect and openness. I like to use a strengths based perspective in my work to help people dig a little deeper from within so they can find characteristics or skills they might not even know about themselves. I enjoy listening to the story the the individual is willing to share, that way I can meet them where they are at.
The longest experience I have had for Social Worker Clinical work is within with Correctional setting. I assisted incarcerated individuals who were ready to be released into the community create discharge plans so that they would be prepared to do well and be successful once released. While I worked in Corrections I was also able to gain valuable therapeutic skills by assisting clients with Anger Management, Coping with life changes, Domestic Violence concerns, some Sex offender discharge planning issues and treatment, Women’s issues, Anxiety, Trauma, and Isolation.

I can interact with you for sessions via video, phone or messaging. Keep in mind that working through video conferencing would be very helpful to get to know each other. My availability would consist of evenings on the weekends for right now, but I plan to check my messages at least once a day.

I have been trained in motivational interviewing, trauma informed care, and Dialectical Behavioral Treatment. I know how important it is to find the right therapist to meet your needs. I wish you the very best in your search for not only the right therapist for you but also the first step towards change in your life. I look forward to working with you!

About

Jennifer Hunt brings eight years of clinical experience to her work with individuals across Nebraska. She approaches each person with respect and openness and aims to listen without judgement so they can collaboratively develop plans to address concerns and find practical solutions.

Her areas of focus include stress, anxiety, anger management, self-esteem, coping with life changes, addictions, relationship issues, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, eating and sleeping disorders, parenting challenges, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, depression, and ADHD. Jennifer uses a strengths-based perspective to help people identify resources and skills within themselves that they may not yet recognize, meeting clients where they are and supporting step-by-step change.

Much of her clinical experience was in a correctional setting, where she helped incarcerated individuals preparing for reentry build discharge plans to support success in the community. That work also allowed her to develop therapeutic skills addressing anger management, coping with life transitions, domestic violence concerns, some sex offender discharge planning issues and treatment, women’s issues, anxiety, trauma, and isolation.

She holds Nebraska licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner and as a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (NE LMHP 5542, NE LIMHP 2977). Jennifer has received training in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and Dialectical Behavioral Treatment, and she enjoys supporting people as they make changes and work toward their goals.

Sessions can be conducted by video, phone, or messaging, with video conferencing often helpful when getting to know one another. For the time being she offers availability in the evenings on weekends and plans to check messages at least once each day. Jennifer looks forward to working with those ready to take a first step toward change.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, online therapy can be equally effective as traditional in-person care. One major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the format that best fits their schedule and comfort level, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to integrate therapy into everyday life. Licensed professionals provide online therapy, and if someone seeks a different therapeutic fit they can switch to another therapist. For many people, remote sessions offer a convenient, effective way to pursue support and progress toward their goals.
