Shirley Patterson

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Hello my name is Shirley Patterson and I am a qualified counsellor, registered with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) in England with 3 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with coping with grief and loss, motivation, self-esteem, and confidence, career difficulties, and depression. I practice Person-centred counselling, and work one to one with clients. Person-centred counselling give you the choice to explore any problems and feelings you have. The sessions will be led by you and not directed by myself. I will help you to find your solution to how you can best manage or cope with the problems you are experiencing.
My approach is to create an open and safe environment for my clients where your thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment, and I will show you respect and warmth by giving you time to talk while I listen, and will check to see if I have heard your feelings. In life we can find it difficult to tell others our problems, and this might be down to whether you can trust them or will they understand you. I believe that life events/crisis can affect us all, but it is the way how you cope and manage these problems when they arise which can place more stress on us especially when you have been hit with one life event/crisis followed by another.
If you feel it is the time now to do something about your problems, then I am here with a listening ear. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to empower you in that journey.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

For many common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable to traditional in-person sessions. It can offer an effective way to address everyday mental health needs without requiring travel to a clinic.

A major benefit is flexibility. People can connect with a therapist in the format that suits them best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – making it easier to fit support into a busy schedule.

All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and there is the option to change therapists at any time if someone feels a different fit would be better. Online therapy can therefore be a practical and accessible option for those seeking help for common emotional and life concerns.
