Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello and thank you for taking the time to check out my profile. I’m a licensed clinical psychologist who is currently practicing in northern VA. I am also a former resident of California, where I am licensed as well.
I have both a Masters degree and a Doctoral degree in clinical psychology; with a focus in adolescent and family therapy. I have provided services in a wide range of settings to include: schools, shelters, community based mental health clinics and many more! Currently, I am working in a national security setting along with maintaining my own private practice and I have traveled globally meeting and working with people from all cultures.
Change can be difficult, but you’ve taken a first step and I’m here to walk with you every inch of the way. I am warm, caring, compassionate and experienced. As a therapist, I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (because it’s straight forward and it works!) with sprinkles of various other psychological theories mixed in. Collaboration is also important to me. Yes, I am an expert in psychology, but you are the expert in your own life and together we will create a plan that will help you to achieve your desired goals. Results matter to me and I am committed to the counseling process and to your success.
I’m here to help and hope to meet you soon!

Dr. Courtney Thomas is a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in northern Virginia who brings 25 years of experience to her work. She earned both a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, with a particular focus on adolescent and family therapy, and she holds licenses to practice in Virginia and in California.
Her clinical background includes providing services in schools, shelters, community-based mental health clinics and other service settings. She currently balances work in a national security setting with a private practice, and has traveled internationally to meet and work with people from a variety of cultures.
Dr. Thomas approaches therapy with warmth, compassion and practical experience. She frequently uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because of its straightforward, evidence-based focus, while integrating techniques from other psychological approaches when appropriate. Collaboration is central to her work – she combines professional expertise with respect for the client’s knowledge of their own life to build a tailored plan for change.
Change can be difficult, and Dr. Thomas is committed to the counseling process and to achieving measurable progress. She welcomes those ready to take a first step and offers supportive, goal-oriented care aimed at helping clients meet their objectives.
Many people ask whether remote therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or managing life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person care.
One major benefit is convenience. Individuals can connect with a therapist in the format that best fits their needs and schedule – whether through video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility often makes it simpler to maintain consistent care.
All participating clinicians are licensed professionals, and clients may change therapists at any time if they want a different match. For many people, virtual therapy provides an accessible, practical path to addressing everyday mental health and relationship concerns while preserving the professional standards of licensure and training.
