Hello and welcome! My name is Whitney Thomas and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania. I have 13 years of experience in the field of mental health. I received mt Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from the University of Pittsburgh (2005). After graduation I obtained a job at a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program where I worked with individuals on reaching their mental wellness goals to live their best lives. Due to the influence of this wonderful program I went on the obtain my Master’s Degree in Community Mental Health Counseling (2014) and then on to obtain my Professional License (2017).
Due to my experience in Psychiatric Rehabilitation my preferred therapeutic approach is person-centered. This gives me the opportunity to meet you where you are at and help you grow from there. Therapy is not a one size fits all program and I enjoy getting to know you as the unique individual that you are coming with your own unique experiences and backgrounds. I strive to make the therapeutic experience a positive one where you will feel confident to share openly and honestly about your accomplishment and hurts without the fear of judgment.
With my 13 years of experience I have had the opportunity to work with adults, children, couples and families. In various settings I have been able to work with people individually and within the group setting. I have been trained in several trauma informed practices and attend yearly continuing education sessions to keep up with the latest skills and practices.
I look forward to collaborating with you and thank you for choosing me to help you on your journey!

Whitney Thomas is a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in Pennsylvania with 14 years of experience in the mental health field.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2005 and began her career working in a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program, supporting individuals as they pursued mental wellness goals. That experience inspired her to pursue further training, leading to a Master’s Degree in Community Mental Health Counseling in 2014 and to obtaining her professional counseling license in 2017.
Whitney’s clinical orientation is grounded in a person-centered approach shaped by her background in psychiatric rehabilitation. She prioritizes meeting each person where they are and tailoring support to the individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. She aims to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel comfortable sharing both accomplishments and challenges without judgment.
Her 14 years of work include direct experience with adults, children, couples, and families, in both individual and group settings. Whitney has received training in several trauma-informed practices and continues to update her skills through annual continuing education.
She holds a Pennsylvania professional counselor license (PA LPC PC010010), a state-issued credential for Licensed Professional Counselors. Whitney looks forward to collaborating with clients and appreciates being trusted to support people on their mental health journeys.
Many people ask whether remote therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or coping with life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care.
One major benefit is convenience and flexibility. Clients can connect in the way that suits them best – via video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which can make it easier to keep appointments and maintain continuity of care.
Therapists offering online services are licensed professionals, and clients may change therapists at any time if they prefer a different fit. For many people, the combination of effective treatment for typical concerns and flexible session formats makes online therapy a practical option to consider.
