Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am Loretta Hartley-Bangs and I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Clinical practice in South Carolina.
My career in social work began over 30 years ago as a medical social worker in a community hospital. My practice moved into
Behavioral Health and Chemical Dependency and I have been fortunate to work on inpatient behavioral health units as well as
outpatient programs. In addition to my clinical work I have been an adjunct professor of social work, teaching in both undergraduate
and graduate programs.
My practice has afforded me the opportunity to work with individuals, families, couples and groups from diverse backgrounds. My perspective and practice is
informed by an understanding of systems and families. This enables me to understand the individual and the impact of their own system or family.
I understand the courage it takes for an individual or family to seek help and respect the level of readiness of each person.

L M (Loretta) Hartley-Bangs is a Licensed Independent Social Worker practicing clinically in South Carolina, holding a state clinical social work license (SC LISW-CP 9647). She brings three decades of social work experience, beginning her career as a medical social worker in a community hospital and later focusing on behavioral health and chemical dependency.
Her clinical work has included roles on inpatient behavioral health units as well as in outpatient programs. In addition to direct practice, she has served as an adjunct professor of social work, teaching in both undergraduate and graduate programs.
Over the years she has worked with individuals, families, couples, and groups from diverse backgrounds. Her approach is informed by an understanding of systems and family dynamics – this perspective helps her consider both the individual and the influence of their family or system. She recognizes the courage it takes to seek help and respects each person’s level of readiness.
Her areas of focus include chemical dependency and addictions, trauma and abuse, mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, stress and anxiety, family conflicts, coping with life changes, and group therapy.
Many people ask whether therapy delivered online can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care.
One major benefit is convenience and flexibility. Clients can connect with a therapist in the format that best fits their needs and schedule – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which can make it simpler to incorporate therapy into a busy life.
These services are provided by licensed professionals and therapists, and if someone decides they would like a different clinician, switching to another professional is an option. Online formats can offer a practical, accessible way to receive help for many everyday mental health concerns.
