Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am a social worker licensed at LCSW level in Mississippi. Sometimes we need someone to help us make needed changes or keep track of how we’re doing with the many ways we and our lives can change. Becoming a social worker was a midlife transition for me. “It’s never too late.” was a saying that became a mantra as I learned from challenges related to making a new life 30+ years ago. But now, with a stronger cognitive perspective, I’d change that to, “It’s not too late right now”.
My cultural background is mixed. To me, each person is unique, but our common humanity makes us alike. My experience is broad including : outpatient, inpatient, IOP, home health and hospice.
I take an eclectic approach towards working with others, so that I can fit what I offer to your individual needs. Modalities and techniques I can bring to our work include: humanistic, insight-oriented, cognitive behavioral, wholistic, and solution focused .

Merle Montalvo is a licensed clinical social worker practicing in Mississippi with 23 years of clinical experience. She holds a Master of Science and is licensed to provide clinical social work services in the state, offering support across a wide range of life challenges.
Merle’s entry into social work came as a midlife transition; the phrase “It’s never too late” became a guiding mantra as she rebuilt her life more than 30 years ago. With time and a stronger cognitive perspective, she now prefers the idea “It’s not too late right now” as an encouraging reminder for people making change at any stage.
Her background is culturally mixed, and she approaches each person as an individual while acknowledging shared human experience. Her practice draws on extensive work in outpatient and inpatient settings, intensive outpatient programs, home health, and hospice care.
Merle uses an eclectic, person-centered approach and adapts techniques to fit each client’s needs. She integrates humanistic and insight-oriented perspectives with cognitive-behavioral strategies, holistic considerations, and solution-focused methods to address concerns such as stress, anxiety, grief, anger management, self-esteem, depression, relationship and family conflicts, trauma and abuse, career difficulties, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, and ADHD.
For many common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and adjusting to life changes – online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person care. Research and clinical experience indicate that these common challenges often respond well to remote therapy.
One major benefit is flexibility. People can choose the communication style that fits their routine and comfort level, whether that is video sessions, phone calls, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility makes it easier to include therapy in a busy life.
Therapists who provide online care are licensed professionals, and clients may change therapists if they need a different fit. For many, remote therapy offers an accessible option to receive professional help for everyday mental health concerns without sacrificing the quality of care.
