Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am licensed in Washington and Kentucky with 8 years of professional work experience. I believe if you change you brain, you can change your life. Mental health disorders effect the way our brain produces different types of chemicals and we often have to retrain the pathways our brain takes in order to change our behaviors and situations. I also believe in letting people make their own choices, because you are the expert on your life! I take a motivational interviewing approach. You tell me what you want to do or where you want to go and I will help you figure out the different routes and options to achieve your goals by using proven scientific methods. My methods usually involve cognitive behavioral therapy with a large variety of interventions depending on your preferences and personality. I especially like using a psychoeducation approach with people who are struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, bipolar, or coping with addictions because you deserve to know why you feel the way you do and how you can change it. I have a wide range of experience working with varying age groups, cultural backgrounds, and religious beliefs. I have a license in Mental Health Counseling and Supervision. I have been a college Professor for 6 years, teaching counseling classes and working with college students. I have experience working with children and youth at a crisis stabilization unit, public schools, and private schools. I spent several years working with substance abuse and addictions. I really enjoy investing in people by inspiring them with hope and equipping them with the tools to change. You have already begun changing your life from the moment you signed up. I would love to be on your team as you continue your journey.

Ruth Darland is licensed to practice in both Kentucky and Washington and brings 10 years of clinical experience to her work. She holds KY LPCC 172887 (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) and WA LMHC LH61415235 (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) and maintains a license in Mental Health Counseling and Supervision.
She believes that changing how the brain functions can create meaningful change in life. Ruth explains how mental health conditions alter brain chemistry and emphasizes retraining neural pathways to shift behaviors and circumstances. Her style is collaborative and client-centered – she uses motivational interviewing to help people identify their direction and then maps out practical routes to reach their goals using evidence-based methods.
Ruth primarily employs cognitive behavioral therapy combined with a range of interventions tailored to each person’s preferences and personality. She favors a psychoeducational approach for those managing anxiety, stress, depression, bipolar disorder, or addictions, so clients understand why they feel as they do and how change can occur.
Her background includes six years as a college professor teaching counseling courses and experience working with children and youth in a crisis stabilization unit, as well as roles in public and private schools and in substance use treatment. She works with diverse ages, cultural backgrounds, and religious beliefs and offers care as a female therapist who is comfortable working from Christian and conservative perspectives. Ruth aims to inspire hope and equip people with tools for change, and she views the decision to begin therapy as the first step toward a different life.
For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes – online therapy can be as effective as in-person treatment. Research and practice have shown that these kinds of issues often respond well to virtual care delivered by trained professionals.
One major benefit is flexibility. People can connect with licensed professionals in the format that suits them best: video sessions, phone calls, live chat, or in-app messaging. That variety makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule or to choose the mode that feels most comfortable.
Each participating therapist is a licensed professional, and clients have the option to switch providers if they want a different fit. Online therapy offers an accessible way to work with skilled therapists while maintaining the practical conveniences that modern life requires.
