Greetings! My name is Dr. Damien Johnson and I am a counseling professional with over 17 years of experience in helping individuals manage presenting symptoms and difficulties using an eclectic style of therapy focusing on the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I have a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice, a M.A. in Counseling and a Ph.D. in Human Services and am credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and a Licensed Addictions Counselor in South Carolina. I am also a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist in North Carolina. I own a private counseling and community outreach agency specializing in mental health and substance abuse/co-occurring disorders.
My counseling style is warm and engaging. I believe in a person centered approach to counseling that allows me to meet the client where they are as we work towards specified goals. I believe in the collaborative process of counseling that focuses on clients’ strength to assist in overcoming deficits that may impede optimum functioning. My theoretical orientation of choice is Cognitive Behavior Therapy, which focuses on the connection between thoughts and feelings that influence behaviors. I also use Mindfulness and NLP principles to help guide clients effectively.
This is an important step in your journey towards healing and I will do my best to assist you in reaching your counseling goals.

Dr. Johnson uses an eclectic, person-centered approach that emphasizes the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. His counseling style is warm and engaging, and he works collaboratively with clients to build on their strengths while addressing obstacles to functioning. Cognitive Behavior Therapy is his primary theoretical orientation, and he also integrates mindfulness practices and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) principles to support clients in meeting their goals.
He provides care for a broad range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, addictions, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, depression, family conflicts, grief, intimacy-related issues, parenting concerns, anger management, self-esteem difficulties, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, and ADHD. Sessions are available via messaging, live chat, phone, and video to accommodate different needs and preferences.
Many people ask whether online therapy can really help. For a range of common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life transitions – online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person care for most individuals.
One major benefit is flexibility. People can connect with therapists in the format that fits their schedule and comfort level – video sessions, phone calls, live chat, or in-app messaging make it easier to maintain continuity of care.
All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and clients may change therapists at any time if they want a different fit. Online therapy can make consistent support more accessible while providing the same core therapeutic approaches used in face-to-face work.
