Carlos Calvet Ortin

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist based in London.

Since I started my training I have worked closely with issues around loss—whether that be the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a job, or something else deeply meaningful and irreplaceable. Loss can take many forms, and I aim to offer a safe space to explore its impact.

In addition to loss, I have experience working with a wide range of concerns, including:

-Depression
-Anxiety
-Low self-esteem
-Loneliness
-Death anxiety
-Feeling stuck
-Communication issues
-Identity
-Obsessive thoughts
-Miscarriage

Over the years, I’ve provided therapy in a variety of settings—private practice, Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs), healthcare providers, charities, and schools. I also understand the emotional challenges faced by people moving to the UK for the first time, including feelings of alienation and the grief of being far from family and community.

My Approach

I work from an integrative perspective, with a person-centred model at the heart of my practice.

In simple terms, integrative therapy means I draw from different approaches depending on what suits the individual in front of me. I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all method. Each person’s experience is unique, and my approach embraces this principle.

Rather than trying to fit clients into a particular model, I work around who you are, what you need, and where you are in your process. I believe human experience can be explored in many ways—and no single theory holds all the answers.

I am bilingual and can offer sessions in English and Spanish.

Creativity and the Unconscious

In addition to my counselling training, I hold a degree in Fine Arts, and this background deeply informs my work. I believe that creativity and imagination can be powerful tools in therapy—offering ways to connect with unconscious parts of ourselves and bring them into awareness. Sometimes, rediscovering forgotten or hidden parts of ourselves is the first step toward meaningful change.

Whatever your concerns are, I will offer you a safe and non- judgemental space so that we explore them at length, at your pace, and find ways to move forward.

Working with men

Many men don’t like to seek help due to dominant masculine values of stoicism, independence and self-control. It also can be related to feelings of shame about the concerns that are bothering them or being seeing as ‘weak’.

If you are a man and this resonates with you, I am glad that you have reached out to talk to someone and open up about whatever is troubling you. ‘To get somewhere new, you must first decide that you are tired of being where you are’.

About

Carlos Calvet Ortin is a BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist based in London. He has five years of clinical experience and has focused much of his work on issues of loss – whether that loss follows the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, or other meaningful and irreplaceable changes. He offers a calm, reliable space to explore how loss has affected a person’s life and sense of self.

He also works with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, loneliness, death anxiety, feeling stuck, communication issues, identity questions, obsessive thoughts, and miscarriage. His practice experience spans private practice, Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs), healthcare providers, charities, and schools. He is also mindful of the particular emotional challenges faced by people moving to the United Kingdom for the first time, including feelings of alienation and the grief that comes from distance from family and community.

His therapeutic stance is integrative with a person-centred model at its core. In practice this means he draws on different therapeutic approaches according to what best suits the individual in front of him rather than relying on a single method. He seeks to respond to who a person is, what they need, and where they are in their process, recognising that no single theory has all the answers.

Carlos is bilingual and offers sessions in English and Spanish. He also brings a background in Fine Arts to his clinical work, believing that creativity and imagination can help access unconscious material and support change. He aims to create a non-judgemental space where issues can be explored at the client’s pace and in depth.

He is experienced in working with men who may find it difficult to seek help because of cultural expectations of stoicism, independence, or shame about appearing weak. If that resonates, he welcomes the decision to reach out and believes that deciding to move on from where you are is the first step toward change – “To get somewhere new, you must first decide that you are tired of being where you are”.

His training includes a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a Level 4 Advanced CBT Diploma Course, a Certification Program in Advanced Trauma, PTSD and Dissociation, and a Level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Supervision.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been found to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person work.

A major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the way that suits them best, whether by video call, phone, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options makes it easier to fit therapy into busy lives and to choose the mode of communication that feels most comfortable.

Therapy delivered remotely is provided by licensed professionals and therapists, and clients are free to change therapists at any time if they feel a different fit would be more helpful. Overall, online therapy offers an accessible and adaptable way to engage with therapeutic support for many common mental health and life concerns.
