Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello, I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the state of California and have an online therapy practice. I completed my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University in 2009. I have worked in various settings including outpatient, school-based, and residential, and have provided therapy to a diverse group of clientele on a wide-range of concerns.
I specialize in providing therapy to individuals, teens, couples and families who are struggling with life stressors, relationship concerns, parenting difficulties, depression, and anxiety.
I approach therapy by looking at each person as part of a larger family system. The way we each grow up influences our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors throughout our life. Some of these influences are positive and others can cause us difficulties and get in the way of the person we want to be and the relationships we want to have. I utilize a combination of CBT (Cognitive-Behavior-Therapy), Psychoeducation, and Mindfulness practices within my therapy in order to help my clients obtain knowledge and develop skills to assist them in difficult times.
I believe we all have the ability to grow and overcome our personal difficulties and life stressors to live the life we want to have. Therapy is a great tool to help one learn more about themselves and guide them to a better and happier self.
I’m excited to be on this journey with you!

Melissa Morais Parr is a licensed marriage and family therapist practicing online in California with 11 years of clinical experience. She earned her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University in 2009 and has worked in outpatient, school-based, and residential settings, offering services to a diverse range of clients facing many different concerns.
She provides therapy for individuals, teens, couples, and families who are managing life stressors, relationship issues, parenting challenges, depression, and anxiety. Melissa frames her work through a family-systems lens – recognizing how the ways people are raised influence their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors throughout life. Some of those early influences support growth while others can create barriers to the relationships and life a person wants.
Her clinical approach integrates cognitive-behavioral techniques with psychoeducation and mindfulness practices to help clients gain understanding and develop practical skills for coping. Melissa believes people have the capacity to grow beyond personal difficulties and life stressors to pursue a more satisfying, happier life, and she looks forward to supporting clients through that process.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One of the main advantages is flexibility – individuals can meet with a therapist in the way that fits their schedule and comfort level, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. That adaptability often makes it easier to keep therapy consistent and integrate it into a busy life.
All therapists are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they seek a different fit. For many people dealing with everyday emotional concerns, online therapy provides a practical, accessible way to receive professional support.
