Catherine (Cate) Beaton

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

My Journey began as a paramedic in Hartford, Connecticut. At the age of 20, I saw firsthand the physical and psychological suffering humans experience. It was in those vulnerable moments with others that I realized that how we connect is as important as what we do. It put me on the path of seeking ways to understand this experience and the world around us. Towards this end, I completed a Master’s Degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University, countless continuing education courses on trauma and behavior and have recently completed my Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology.

As a Clinical and Executive Director, supporting my coworkers and supervisees became a core component to my true north (or calling). It provided me the opportunity to support those who work in the helping professions and give of themselves to support others. In addition to the skills I developed and refined, it also strengthened my belief that relationships and people are at the core of our collective health. I have experienced the profound effect that a strong therapeutic relationship can have and my 10 years of clinical supervision experience has taught me the importance of creating a safe space for people to explore who they are. Ultimately I seek to give the gift of being seen, heard, and understood to those around me.

About

Catherine (Cate) Beaton began her helping career as a paramedic in Hartford, Connecticut, and at age 20 witnessed both the physical and psychological suffering people can face. Those early encounters made clear to her that how we connect with one another matters as much as the actions we take, and they set her on a path to deepen her understanding of human experience and the world around us.

She completed a Master of Arts in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University, pursued extensive continuing education focused on trauma and behavior, and has recently finished an Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology. Cate has built a clinical foundation around these trainings while also serving in leadership roles; as a Clinical and Executive Director she made supporting coworkers and supervisees a central part of her work.

With a decade of clinical supervision experience, she emphasizes the importance of creating a safe, exploratory space where people can discover who they are. Cate believes relationships and human connection are at the heart of collective health, and she values the strong therapeutic bond as a powerful part of healing and growth. Ultimately, her aim is to offer the gift of being seen, heard, and understood to those she supports.

Cate is licensed to practice as a clinical mental health counselor in both Vermont and New Hampshire, has fifteen years of professional experience, and is based in Vermont.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people wonder whether connecting with a therapist online can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.

One of the most practical benefits is flexibility – clients can choose the format that fits their life, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This makes it easier to maintain continuity of care when schedules or circumstances change.

Therapists providing online care are licensed professionals, and clients are able to change therapists if they need a different fit. For many people, the combination of accessibility and professional clinical support makes online therapy a viable option for addressing everyday mental health and life challenges.
