Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Thoughtful, creative counseling to nurture your natural strengths and help you discover and resolve whatever is holding you back from living a more satisfying, fulfilling life.
I am Elaine Walker, licensed mental health counselor, lic. # 3917, practicing in Massachusetts as well as through tele-therapy (online or on phone).
I worked for 25 years as director of a Fountain House model clubhouse, helping adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses and retiring from that role a few years ago.
I currently am a senior adjunct at Cambridge College, helping graduate students to develop the skills needed to become awesome therapists. In addition, I maintain a small private practice providing psychotherapy to individuals throughout the week.
I raised two wonderful daughters as a single mother, and as that role required lees and less time and attention, I discovered that creating art, reading, and gardening required more. I think that my essential purpose in life is now to create a better world, by listening carefully to one client at a time. And then contemplating what will be the best ways to aid this person to overcome obstacles and meet their goals. And then actively taking steps to make that happen.
Each client is unique and therefore each way of working with that person is also unique. The theories I draw most upon are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person Centered, Existential, Motivational Interviewing and Adlerian.
The types of issues that are brought to me are about difficulties with relationships, with mood and motivation, with fears and anxieties, with loneliness and loss, and sometimes just a pervasive dissatisfaction with life that is hard to understand or articulate.
I seek to understand and for you to understand as well, then get to work on facilitating change.

She holds a Master of Arts degree and is a licensed mental health counselor in Massachusetts (license number 3917). Prof. Walker provides care in Massachusetts and also meets with clients through tele-therapy, either online or by phone.
Before focusing on private practice and teaching, she spent 25 years as the director of a Fountain House model clubhouse, supporting adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses, and she retired from that role a few years ago. She now teaches as a senior adjunct at Cambridge College, guiding graduate students as they develop the clinical skills needed to become effective therapists. Alongside her academic work she maintains a small private practice and provides psychotherapy to individuals throughout the week.
Prof. Walker raised two daughters as a single mother, and as parenting responsibilities changed she found more time for art, reading, and gardening. She describes her essential purpose as creating a better world one person at a time by listening closely, considering the most helpful approaches for each individual, and taking practical steps to support change.
She adapts her approach to each client, drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, person-centered methods, existential ideas, motivational interviewing, and Adlerian principles. People come to her with concerns about relationships, mood and motivation, fears and anxiety, loneliness and loss, or a general dissatisfaction with life that can be difficult to name.
Prof. Walker aims to understand each person thoroughly and to work collaboratively to facilitate meaningful change.
