Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
My counseling philosophy is that life is short; so, the faster change can be achieved, the more time can be spend being free of negative emotions and believes, past traumas and hurts, and any guilt or shame that may be weighing you down. That does not mean that we will not slow down should we reach any of those hurts that needs to be approached gently and with patience. A bit about my history: I was born and raised in South Africa, where I obtained an Honors Degree in Psychology in 1986. The United States gave me the opportunity to further my studies in the field I am so passionate about, and I completed my Master’s degree in Counseling at Dallas Baptist University in 2012. Since then, I’ve been practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Due to licensing requirements, I may unfortunately only provide counseling to people residing in Texas.

Carien Myburgh approaches counseling with the belief that life is short and the sooner meaningful change can occur, the more time a person has to live free of persistent negative emotions, limiting beliefs, old wounds, and the guilt or shame that may hold them back.
At the same time, she balances that drive for progress with sensitivity—when painful issues surface, she is willing to slow the pace and work through them with patience and care. Born and raised in South Africa, she earned an Honors degree in Psychology in 1986 and later moved to the United States to continue her training.
She completed a Master’s degree in Counseling at Dallas Baptist University in 2012 and has practiced as a professional counselor since then, bringing 13 years of experience to her clinical work. She is licensed to practice as a professional counselor in Texas (license TX LPC 69726), and due to licensing requirements she can only provide counseling to people who reside in Texas.
Many people wonder whether working with a therapist online can truly make a difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most people.
One major benefit is the flexibility it offers – clients can choose the format that best suits their routine and comfort level, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility can make it easier to fit regular sessions into a busy life.
All therapists are licensed professionals, and clients can change therapists if they decide they would prefer a different fit. Online therapy can be a practical option for many who need accessible, consistent support.
