Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am a professional counselor licensed in South Dakota. I have over 20 years of experience. I have worked with clients ranging in age from 3 to 85 and have assisted clients as they work on their concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting issues, relationship issues, loss and grief, and addiction.
Years ago, I became a fan of the superhero, Spider-Man. His guiding philosophy is “With great power comes great responsibility.” I adhere to this philosophy in counseling. I treat others with respect and compassion. I understand the journey of counseling can be daunting, especially as the journey begins. I view my role as being collaborative as we identify where you’d like to go. I believe it is important that everyone have an environment where they can feel safe and supported. My approach combines client-centered and cognitive-behavioral counseling.
If you are ready to start your journey I am here to walk with you.
I look forward to working with you.

Cory Nelson is a licensed professional counselor practicing in South Dakota with 25 years of clinical experience. He has worked with people across the lifespan, from young children age 3 through older adults up to age 85, supporting them through concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting and family conflicts, relationship and intimacy issues, addiction, grief and loss, and sleep or career difficulties.
Early in his life he connected with the guiding idea from the Spider-Man stories – “With great power comes great responsibility” – and he applies that principle to his work by treating others with respect and compassion. He recognizes that beginning therapy can feel intimidating and approaches the process as a collaborative journey, partnering with clients to identify goals and build a safe, supportive environment for change.
His clinical style blends client-centered principles with cognitive-behavioral techniques to help clients develop practical coping skills and insight. Whether someone is navigating life changes, managing stress or anger, addressing attention or mood concerns, or seeking support for trauma-related issues, Cory aims to walk alongside clients through the therapeutic process and looks forward to working with those ready to begin.
Many people question whether virtual therapy truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and navigating life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility – clients can choose the communication method that fits their needs, whether that is video sessions, phone calls, live chat, or in-app messaging. This makes it easier to schedule care around work, family, and other commitments.
These services are delivered by licensed professionals and therapists, and if a different therapeutic fit is desired, clients are able to switch providers. For many people, online therapy offers a practical and effective way to access professional support without changing the quality of care.
