Dr. Lucetry Dalton-Trusty

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

“Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us.” ~David Richo

Good day! My name is Dr. Lucetry B. Dalton and I am fully licensed clinical psychologist in the great mitten state of Michigan, where I was born & raised. I offer virtual telehealth psychotherapy services utilizing an evidence-based integrative therapeutic approach based on the individualized clinical need of the patient. My sessions tend to be very interactive, engaging, and collaborative with a touch of humor and fun as appropriate. I enjoy learning just as much from my patients as they learn from me and I offer a safe, secure, trusting, & judgement free zone to my patients where they can be their true authentic selves and say whatever is on their mind, as they will get the same in return from me. I typically suggest “therapeutic homework assignments” that are often brief & enjoyable in nature, but also challenging with the purpose of encouraging the patient to engage in some deep self-reflection, critical thinking, & cognitive reframing in addition to learning to view situations and people from various perspectives. Although patients may present with similar presenting problems, I do not treat no two people exactly the same and my therapeutic approach is tailored to each individual based on their personality, interests, & clinical need. I have over 10 years experience working in the mental health field as a clinician in various states (NC, DC, MD, PA to name a few) where I have resided throughout my education, training, & career. My experience involves year of providing mental health services to individuals across the lifespan of various cultures & backgrounds, which include but not limited to children/adolescents, adults, elderly, couples, & family as well as members of various ethnicities & minority communities.

“We are here to listen…not to work miracles…
We are here to help people discover what they are feeling, not to make the feelings go away…
We are here to help people identify their options, not to decide for them what they need to do…
We are here to discuss steps with people, not take steps for them…
We are here to help people discover their own strength, not to rescue them and still leave them vulnerable…
We are here to help people learn to choose, not to make it unnecessary for them to make difficult choices…
We are here to provide support for change…”

About

Dr. Lucetry Dalton-Trusty is a fully licensed clinical psychologist practicing in Michigan who offers virtual psychotherapy tailored to each person’s needs. With an integrative, evidence-based approach, she adapts interventions to match the individual’s clinical concerns and personal style.

Her sessions are interactive and collaborative, often incorporating warmth and a light touch of humor when appropriate. She creates a trusting, judgment-free space where patients are encouraged to speak openly and explore their experiences while receiving thoughtful, reciprocal feedback.

Dr. Dalton-Trusty often recommends brief, purposeful therapeutic homework that is designed to be engaging yet challenging, supporting reflection, cognitive reframing, and considering situations from different perspectives. Although clients may present with similar problems, she does not treat two people the same; treatment is customized based on personality, interests, and clinical need.

She brings over 10 years of clinical experience across several states, including work in North Carolina, the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania during her education and training. That background includes providing mental health care to individuals across the lifespan and from diverse cultures and communities – children and adolescents, adults, older adults, couples, and families, as well as members of various ethnic and minority groups.

Dr. Dalton-Trusty accepts telehealth appointments and emphasizes a collaborative process focused on identifying options, building strengths, and supporting change rather than offering quick fixes or taking actions for the patient. Her practice aims to help people understand their feelings, examine choices, and develop steps toward growth while honoring each person’s autonomy.

Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

Many people ask whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and adjusting to life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.

One major benefit is flexibility – individuals can choose the mode of connection that works best for them, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit therapy into busy lives.

All therapists are licensed professionals, and if someone seeks a different fit, it is possible to switch to another therapist. Online therapy offers an accessible way to pursue care that aligns with a person’s schedule and communication preferences.
