When life starts to feel overwhelming it can be hard to spot a way forward, and taking the first step toward support often feels daunting. Acknowledging the need for help takes real courage and that initial move is frequently the hardest part of change.
Counselling can mark the turning point between continuing to struggle in silence and building inner strength and self-belief that make meaningful shifts possible.
Nisa Farooq is a BACP registered and accredited psychodynamic counsellor - registered and accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy - and an experienced bereavement counsellor trained by Cruse Bereavement Care.
She works with people presenting a range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood and depression, relationship difficulties, childhood experiences and low self-esteem, grief and bereavement, addiction, narcissistic injuries, OCD, eating disorders and body dysmorphia, as well as victims of crime and trauma. These issues are addressed collaboratively in a confidential and non-judgemental setting with the aim of improving day-to-day wellbeing.
Everyone faces challenges at different times, and being heard and understood can be an important place to begin. When a person is ready to look for support, Nisa is available to help - finding the right person to share painful experiences with is an important step on the path to healing.
Many people ask whether online therapy can genuinely help. For a range of common concerns - including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges and navigating life changes - remote therapy has been found to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One of the main benefits is flexibility. People can meet with their therapist in the way that suits them best - by video call, over the phone, via live chat or through in-app messaging - which makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life.
Therapists who offer online work are licensed professionals, and it is possible to change to a different therapist at any time if someone feels another approach or style would be a better fit.
