Wendy Galyen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Indiana and holds a Distance Credentialed Counselor credential, indicating training to provide remote counseling. She completed undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Social Work at the University of Indianapolis in 2002 and earned a master’s degree in Social Work from Indiana University in 2003. With 20 years of clinical experience, she has worked with individuals, couples, families, and children in private practice while maintaining active roles in continuing education and higher education.
As an adjunct faculty member and internship supervisor, she trains and mentors Master of Social Work and Master of Counseling students at Indiana University, Butler University, and the University of Indianapolis, which helps her stay current with research and counseling theory. She also has extensive social work research experience and has published and presented that work in textbooks, journals, and at national conferences.
Her counseling style is conversational, empathic, non-judgmental, compassionate, and tailored to each person’s needs. She aims to establish strong rapport quickly so trust and progress can develop, and she draws on a mix of theoretical approaches depending on client goals, most frequently using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions-Based Therapy, and mindfulness techniques. She believes regular interaction and a good therapeutic relationship support meaningful progress.
She maintains scheduled hours for her BetterHelp clients and strives to respond to email messages within 24 hours to provide consistency and availability. Wendy works with concerns including stress, anxiety, relationship issues, self-esteem, depression, coping with life changes, family dynamics, grief, coaching needs, compassion fatigue, and ADHD. She recognizes the courage it takes to seek support and would be honored to accompany someone through that journey. She looks forward to working with new clients soon.
