Stacy Fruhling welcomes people who are ready to pursue meaningful change and offers support grounded in two decades of clinical experience. She earned both a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Towson University and has worked across school, outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential settings.
Throughout her career she has focused on a broad range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting and family conflicts, career difficulties, and addictions. Her specialties also include stress, grief, coping with life changes, intimacy-related issues, sleeping disorders, anger management, self-esteem difficulties, and bipolar disorder.
Stacy began her work in the school system as an addictions prevention counselor and has since provided care to children, teens, and adults in community mental health and treatment programs at multiple levels of care.
She is licensed to practice counseling in Maryland and Washington and holds both professional counseling certification and a credential in addictions counseling. Her approach is warm and interactive; she treats people with respect, sensitivity, and compassion and avoids stigmatizing labels.
Clinically she uses an eclectic mix of methods - drawing on cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, gestalt, and systems perspectives - to tailor conversations and treatment plans to each person’s specific needs. Stacy aims to support and empower clients as they take steps toward a more fulfilling and balanced life.
Many people wonder whether remote counseling can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life transitions, evidence shows online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person care.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can connect in the way that fits their schedule and comfort level, using video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to keep regular appointments and to integrate therapy into a busy life.
Every therapist available through online services is a licensed professional, and clients have the option to change therapists at any time if they feel a different match would be more helpful. For many people, online therapy provides a practical, evidence-based way to address everyday mental health and life challenges.
