Shoko Kasanami is a licensed practitioner in Australia who uses her personal experiences to support people facing depression, anxiety, addictions, low self-esteem and other mental health concerns.
She moved to Australia from Canada and earned a Master of Social Work, a graduate degree in social work. She has over four years of experience working with people dealing with mental health concerns and complex backgrounds.
Shoko previously worked with the government department of child protection, which informed her practice, and she is currently dedicated to working with an organisation that focuses on rehabilitating offenders.
She is committed to offering a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to discuss their feelings and experiences. She listens and walks alongside clients, providing support as they navigate personal challenges and work toward their goals.
Outside of her clinical work she enjoys motorcycles, skateboarding and music, and she is fluent in both English and Japanese.
For many common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and navigating life changes, online therapy has been found to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can connect in the way that suits them best, whether through video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility often makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life.
Each therapist is a licensed professional, and clients have the option to switch therapists if they feel a different fit would be more helpful.
