Shane Schuhmacher has spent nearly 20 years working in the human services field, and after earning a counseling psychology degree he focused his efforts on helping people through the counseling process. He brings a perspective that views counseling as a path of self-discovery and skill-building, helping people learn more effective ways to manage situations in their lives.
He has five years of experience providing therapy services and works with a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, addiction, relationship problems, anger management, low self-esteem, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, grief, parenting challenges, career difficulties, depression, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, and ADHD. His work often uses cognitive behavioral and solution-focused methods along with motivational interviewing to explore and address these issues.
Shane emphasizes the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship to gain a deeper understanding of a person’s thoughts and emotions and to support forward progress. He meets clients with respect and unconditional positive regard, using active listening and reflective techniques. His approach is individualized and client-centered, aimed at helping people reach their goals and build understanding as change unfolds.
He is a licensed professional counselor in Wisconsin, holding a state license (WI LPC 7242-125). Shane welcomes the opportunity to work with individuals seeking support, and he aims to help people move toward greater clarity and well-being.
