Sara Hoesly recognizes that reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming and commends anyone taking that initial step toward care. She brings seven years of clinical experience and works from Massachusetts, helping clients navigate a broad range of concerns.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from SUNY Albany and completed both a Master of Arts and a Master of Education in Psychological Counseling at Columbia University. She is licensed to practice in Massachusetts as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor - her Massachusetts license number is 8113 - and she also holds licensure in Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Across her career Sara has practiced in outpatient mental health and addiction treatment centers, contracted for the Department of Children and Families, and worked in day treatment programs. She has provided both group and individual counseling to children and adults.
Her approach is flexible and collaborative, shaped by each client’s needs and priorities. Sara emphasizes partnership in therapy, valuing the client’s voice when planning action and change rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. She looks forward to working with clients who want support addressing stress, anxiety, addictions, depression, relationship and family conflicts, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related concerns, parenting challenges, anger management, self-esteem issues, bipolar disorder, and coping with life changes.
