Rebecca Levenson-Smith, MD LCPC LC8030, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor practicing in Maryland with 11 years of professional experience. She began her career teaching high school students with emotional and behavioral disorders and also brings a background in art to her clinical work.
Her community mental health experience spans school-based, in-home, in-office, and telehealth settings. She has worked with children, adolescents, families, couples, groups, and individual adult clients from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of diagnoses. Her clinical work includes supporting people through stressful life changes, anxiety, depression, mood dysregulation, trauma, relationship issues, grief, and psychosis.
Rebecca has helped couples repair trust, improve communication, and strengthen emotional intimacy. She practices from a psychodynamic perspective while integrating approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gestalt, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, and somatic techniques to meet each client’s needs.
She emphasizes helping clients gain insight and understanding of symptoms while also building practical skills to cope with, manage, and resolve them. Rebecca collaborates with clients to identify and pursue their therapeutic goals, meeting them where they are and supporting them to find and reinforce strengths that lead to meaningful change. (LCPC stands for Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor; MD indicates Maryland.)
