Phyllis Trail is a California-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who brings a nursing background and 27 years of clinical experience to her practice. She supports people navigating major life changes and common mental health concerns, including stress, anxiety, addictions, illness, grief and loss, depression, sleep difficulties, self-esteem challenges, career struggles, bipolar disorder, trauma and abuse, relationship problems, and family conflict.
She has developed particular experience working with those raising other people’s children and offers Christian counseling for clients who prefer a faith-informed approach. Her work often involves helping clients distinguish early life adaptations from what they truly want now, and helping them gain permission to choose differently when that is helpful.
Phyllis adapts her methods to the individual, taking cues from each person to determine which therapeutic approaches will be most effective. She relies on clinical intuition and the therapeutic relationship to guide treatment and focuses on practical coping strategies as well as insight.
Hope, compassion, and empathy are central to her practice. She aims to help clients find the silver lining beyond current obstacles and move toward greater freedom, peace, and renewed perspective. Phyllis honors the strengths people bring to therapy and values the moment when increased insight and permission to be oneself lead to visible change.
She is interested in helping people pursue greater freedom and well-being. If her approach resonates, individuals are encouraged to reach out to explore whether her services are a good fit.
