Mousumi Mallik is a licensed clinical counselor practicing in Ohio with three years of professional counseling experience. She holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bowling Green State University and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of Toledo. Mousumi is licensed in Ohio as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and serves in a supervisory role.
Her background includes more than two decades of work in human services across Uganda, India, and Northwest Ohio, and she moved to the United States to follow her passion and train as a clinical counselor. Mousumi has worked with people ranging in age from 4 to 92, including many college students while living and working in a college town, and her earlier years as a teacher inform her approach with children.
She has experience supporting the LGBTQ+ community and has a particular interest in working with individuals who have severe, persistent mental health conditions or who are in crisis. As a cancer survivor, Mousumi also works with clients who have been diagnosed with cancer, are undergoing treatment, or are survivors of cancer and other serious health conditions.
Mousumi has worked with individuals, adolescents and teens, couples, and groups on concerns such as anxiety, PTSD, depression, crisis response, substance use disorder, personality disorders, and other mental health issues. She provides trauma-informed care, meeting clients where they are and helping them build resilience and confidence to face life’s challenges.
Having lived and worked on three continents has contributed to her multicultural competence and respect for diverse backgrounds. Her therapeutic style blends feminist, humanistic, and person-centered approaches, and she uses narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused techniques to help clients set realistic, healthy goals. Mousumi’s work is guided by core values of kindness, compassion, empathy, and humility, and she tailors conversations and treatment plans to each person’s specific needs. She finds the helping profession deeply rewarding and is committed to supporting clients as they take the courageous first steps toward a more fulfilling and happier life.
Many people wonder whether remote counseling can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can meet in the format that fits their life best, whether through video sessions, phone calls, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to attend regular appointments and maintain therapeutic momentum.
These services are delivered by licensed professionals, and if a different therapeutic fit is desired, clients can switch therapists at any time. Online therapy offers an accessible way to pursue meaningful progress on common mental health concerns while accommodating busy schedules and varied preferences.
