Rev. Michael Abell is an ordained minister and a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania, a credential that authorizes him to provide clinical therapy (PA LPC PC012631). He also holds national certification as a counselor and brings 11 years of formal therapy experience to his practice.
His roots are in pastoral ministry, a path he began in January 2001, and across the past 24 years he has devoted substantial time to counseling individuals, couples, and families. He completed a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy in December 2017, blending real-world pastoral work with formal clinical training.
Married since June 2000, he and his wife are parents to five children whose ages range from 12 to 18. Over the years he has worked with people from diverse backgrounds - those of various faiths and no faith, straight and LGBTQIA individuals, children, teens, adults, parents, grandparents, and people in hospice and their families.
He has helped clients address a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, parenting challenges, coping with life changes, addictions, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related matters, self-esteem, career difficulties, depression, and ADHD.
Rev. Abell works from a collaborative perspective, holding the belief that each person is the expert on their own life. He aims to help clients identify and build on their strengths so they can move from where they are now to where they want to be. In sessions he acts as a supporter, encourager, and teammate, believing that therapy can initiate meaningful change while clients carry that change forward into daily life.
