Melissa McCauley-Burow is a licensed clinician who supports people across a wide range of concerns, helping them move toward greater well-being and a more satisfying life. With 18 years of direct therapy experience and more than two decades in the mental health field, she meets clients where they are and walks alongside them as they work toward their goals.
She holds licensure to practice counseling in Missouri as a professional counselor and in Washington as a licensed mental health counselor. In addition, she is board certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors, holds an international reciprocal credential for drug and alcohol counseling in Missouri, serves as a Missouri certified clinical supervisor, and is a certified grief educator.
Melissa works with individuals across the age spectrum on issues such as stress, anxiety, addictions, grief, self-esteem, depression, relationship concerns, trauma and abuse, sleep problems, anger management, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, and ADHD. Her counseling draws on mindfulness training to increase present-moment awareness, cognitive behavioral therapy to identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns, and dialectical behavior therapy to build emotion regulation and interpersonal skills.
She integrates professional expertise with personal practices: she writes, enjoys travel, has three adult children, and maintains a daily mindfulness practice. Melissa maintains a warm, approachable manner and looks forward to supporting people as they take steps toward the life they want to live.
Many people wonder whether meeting with a therapist remotely will truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life transitions, online therapy has been found to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can choose the format that best fits their needs and routine, whether that is a video session, a phone call, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to attend sessions consistently and integrate therapy into a busy life.
All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and if someone feels they need a different match, it is possible to switch therapists. For many people, remote therapy offers a practical, evidence-informed option for addressing everyday mental health challenges while fitting treatment into their schedules.
