Louise Lant qualified as a counsellor in the United Kingdom in 2017 and has worked as a professional counsellor in a variety of settings since then. Making this career change is something she regards as a privilege and it shapes her dedication to the role.
She strongly believes in the value of counselling when life feels difficult or isolating, and she has experience supporting people with stress and anxiety, self esteem and confidence, family and relationship conflicts, parenting issues, and coping with life changes. Her initial training is in Person-centred therapy, which continues to underpin all of her therapeutic work.
Alongside a person-centred foundation, she may incorporate strategies drawn from Solution focussed, Compassion focussed and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies where these approaches suit a client’s needs. The therapeutic relationship is central to her practice; she aims to foster an open, trusting connection in which clients can be honest about how they feel and what they need from therapy.
Louise believes that people are the experts in their own lives and that they already possess skills and strengths to address challenges - it is normal to seek support to access those resources. Taking the first step toward a more fulfilling and happier life requires courage, and she is available to support clients through that process. She offers support as a female, older, liberal therapist.
