Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Thank you for visiting my profile page! I’d like to share a little bit about myself, and I know that selecting a counselor is an important decision. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2001, and I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds with many different challenges and concerns. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from the University of Colorado. I’m also working on a PhD in Psychology at Northcentral University.
In addition to my clinical work, I also enjoy teaching psychology classes at our Community College.
Personally, I’m a native of Colorado, and I absolutely love the outdoors and nature. I enjoy hiking, reading, painting and playing with our dog, Luna. Perhaps you can meet her online! I also love to travel with my husband.
My philosophy in counseling is to meet my clients where they are and discover the strengths they have to help them make the changes they want to make. In my experience, people come to counseling because something needs to change, and maybe they’re feeling stuck. They may want to change how they feel, how they behave, or how they think about things. I take a compassionate and practical approach to counseling, which enables clients to see results quickly. I believe that what happens between sessions is as important as what happens in sessions, and I give clients tools to put into practice right away. I view the counseling relationship as a collaboration with you, and YOU are the expert in your life.
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves”. Viktor Frankl
My specialties and experience include work with clients on decreasing depression and anxiety, overcoming trauma, and improving self-esteem and confidence. I have also worked successfully with many clients to change habits and behaviors that are not serving them. This includes substance use disorders and other addictions (e.g. gambling, eating, shopping, etc.). I also have experience working with first responders (law enforcement, fire, and paramedics) and their families.
Often, relationships are also part of the reason for seeking counseling, and I have specialized training and experience in helping people communicate more effectively, resolve conflicts, and become more assertive, personally, and professionally. Finally, my work with clients is often during times of grief and loss or transition in their lives, and I help people see the opportunities in change, even when the change is unwelcome or even scary.
My Approach: I have training and experience in a variety of approaches to work with clients. I believe that counseling interventions should be solidly grounded in research. I like to use these approaches:
* Cognitive -Behavioral Therapy
* Dialectical Behavior Therapy
* Solution Focused Therapy
* Meaningful Life Therapy
* Existential Psychology
* Mindfulness-Based Interventions
* Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
* Japanese/Eastern Approaches to wellness (e.g. Morita Therapy)
Seeking help takes courage and I commend you for taking this step! I would be honored to work with you as you take the next steps in your journey!
-Lisa

Lisa La Rose is a Colorado-based licensed Professional Counselor with 20 years of clinical experience who works with adults from diverse backgrounds on a wide range of concerns. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Colorado, and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Psychology at Northcentral University. In addition to her clinical practice, she teaches psychology courses at a community college.
Raised in Colorado, Lisa values the outdoors and often spends free time hiking, reading, painting, and playing with her dog, Luna – who occasionally appears during online sessions. She also enjoys traveling with her husband.
Lisa’s approach is both compassionate and practical. She aims to meet clients where they are, identify existing strengths, and support change in ways that produce observable results. She emphasizes real-world skills clients can use between sessions and describes the counseling relationship as a collaborative process in which the client is the expert in their own life. She often reminds clients of Viktor Frankl’s words: “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
Her areas of focus include reducing depression and anxiety, addressing trauma, and strengthening self-esteem and confidence. Lisa has helped many clients change habits and behaviors that are no longer serving them, including managing substance use disorders and other addictive behaviors such as gambling, disordered eating, and compulsive shopping. She also has experience working with first responders and their families.
Relationship concerns are a frequent part of her work, and she provides specialized support for improving communication, resolving conflict, and building assertiveness in personal and professional settings. Lisa also supports clients through grief, loss, and major life transitions, helping them recognize opportunities for growth even when change feels difficult.
Clinically, Lisa draws on interventions that are grounded in research and tailored to each person’s needs. Her therapeutic toolkit includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution-focused techniques, meaningful life therapy, existential psychology, mindfulness-based practices, acceptance and commitment therapy, and Japanese/Eastern approaches such as Morita Therapy.
Seeking help takes courage, and Lisa appreciates the step people take when they reach out for support. She would be honored to work collaboratively with individuals as they move toward the changes they want to make.
Many people wonder whether virtual counseling can produce meaningful results. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and life transitions, research has shown that online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major advantage of online therapy is convenience. Clients can connect with therapists in the format that best fits their needs and routines – whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to prioritize care and maintain continuity during busy or unpredictable periods.
Therapists offering online care are licensed professionals who use evidence-based approaches to address a wide range of concerns. If a client feels a different match would be more helpful, they can choose to switch therapists at any time. For many people, online therapy provides an accessible, practical route to consistent support and real-world strategies for change.
