Lauren Young is a Tennessee-based, state-licensed professional counselor and mental health service provider with ten years of clinical experience.
She began her practice at a community mental health agency in Tennessee, where she developed a deep understanding of how poverty, addiction, trauma, and other stressors affect individuals and family dynamics. Over the years she has worked with families and individuals facing anxiety, depression, abuse and neglect, parenting challenges, stress, loss, and the everyday frustrations of life.
Lauren also has more than nine years of focused experience with young adults and adolescents who are managing anxiety, depression, trauma, and life stressors. She has a particular passion for supporting women who are newly engaged or who are new parents, helping them navigate the highs and lows of those seasons so they can thrive.
Her clinical style is empathetic, warm, goal-oriented, and centered on the client. She draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients set clear objectives, address stressors, and feel empowered as they reach their goals. As a Christian, she is open to discussing spirituality during sessions when clients wish to include it.
Lauren earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from East Tennessee State University and a master’s degree from Milligan College. She has been married for seven years, and because both she and her husband work, she understands the ongoing challenge of balancing work and family life.
She looks forward to supporting clients as they work toward meaningful change.
