Kristen Kasperek is a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Illinois with 14 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples in both individual and group settings.
She holds professional counseling licenses in Illinois and Nevada and is also a nationally certified counselor. Early in her career she worked as a psycho-social rehabilitation therapist and earned certifications related to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Kristen has extensive experience working with chronic mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety, and she also supports people struggling with self-esteem, self-worth, difficult relationships, and grief. She works with undergraduate and graduate students to help them explore identity and career direction using tools like the MBTI and the Strong Interest Inventory, then translates those insights into practical steps for choosing suitable degree programs and career paths.
As a career counselor she assists with self-discovery, the job search process, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, and negotiation strategies. Her counseling style aims to be relaxed, non-threatening, and professional, helping clients take the often-difficult first step and then building individualized strategies that lead to meaningful change.
Kristen earned a master’s degree in Community Counseling with a focus on mental illness and career counseling, and she holds an undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in sociology. She welcomes the opportunity to work with anyone seeking direction, greater inner peace, or support moving past personal or professional obstacles.
