Kevin Wilbanks is a seasoned counselor with 32 years of professional experience helping people move from where they are to where they want to be. He creates a collaborative, dependable environment marked by careful listening, non-judgmental attention, and honest feedback so that clients can grow and become more of who they want to be.
Trained to offer what he describes as a corrective emotional experience through the therapeutic relationship, Kevin helps people resolve past interpersonal problems and remove barriers to growth. He teaches practical tools to calm the body and mind, supports clients in understanding how the past influences the present, and coaches them to adopt different choices and behaviors that better align with their goals.
Kevin works with individuals facing depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, anger challenges, relationship and marital conflict, parenting struggles, family issues, low self-esteem, and the stresses of life change. His approach focuses on changing self-sabotaging beliefs and unhelpful self-talk into more reality-based thinking that has a positive impact on emotion and decision making.
He earned a Doctorate in Counseling (D. Min) from Covington Theological Seminary in 1998, a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University in 1995, and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, Social Sciences from N.W. Christian University in 1993. Kevin has fourteen years of experience providing clinical counseling worldwide in support of the United States Armed Forces mission, and from 2000 to 2008 he served as CEO of Counseling Associates of West Georgia, Inc., where he specialized in rural counseling and mediation for children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples.
Kevin is licensed to practice counseling in both Oregon and Georgia and holds national counseling certification. Outside of his clinical work he enjoys playing drums and percussion, hiking, fitness, traveling, and reading.
Many people wonder whether meeting with a therapist online can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and life transitions, research and practice indicate that online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person treatment.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can connect in the way that fits their routines and comfort levels, choosing video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That adaptability makes it easier to keep therapy consistent amid a busy life.
Therapists who offer online services are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they feel a different fit would be better. For many people, the combination of clinical training and the convenience of remote sessions makes online therapy a practical and effective route to support and growth.
