Dr. Karen Kearby offers a warm, interactive counseling style rooted in respect, sensitivity, and compassion. She integrates cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, positive psychology, and rational-emotive techniques, adopting an eclectic and holistic approach to mental health.
She holds a doctorate in Psychology and is a nationally certified counselor who is licensed to practice as a professional counselor in both Georgia and Tennessee. With five years of clinical experience, Dr. Kearby has worked in a variety of settings including private practice, prison and jail environments, and military installations. She has supported children, adolescents, adults, couples, and groups with concerns such as self-esteem, depression, anxiety, partner relational problems, anger and stress management, trauma, and life adjustment issues.
Dr. Kearby emphasizes collaboratively setting goals for therapy and routinely evaluating the therapeutic approach to ensure it meets each person’s needs. She believes that when people cultivate hope and learn to identify and replace irrational thoughts and beliefs, meaningful change becomes possible. Her sessions are intended to be warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental - a safe place to explore obstacles to living the life someone wants. Guiding people through difficult times and empowering them to move forward is central to her work.
Seeking a more fulfilling and happier life requires courage, and Dr. Kearby is prepared to support those ready to take that step. She looks forward to working together.
“In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step back into safety.” - Abraham Maslow
Many people wonder whether online therapy can produce real benefits. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One major advantage is flexibility. People can connect in the way that suits them best - through video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging - making it simpler to fit therapy into a busy schedule.
Therapists offering online services are licensed professionals, and it is possible to switch therapists if you decide a different fit would be better. This format can make consistent, professional support more accessible for many everyday mental health challenges.
